Shiers Jamie

Project Manager, IT Department, CERN

Jamie Shiers works in CERN’s IT Department as Project Manager of the International Collaboration on Long-Term Data Preservation in High Energy Physics (DPHEP). He is also involved in various ways with the Research Data Alliance, including as a member of the Technical Advisory Board, the Organisational Assembly Board, as well as various Interest and Working Groups.

Prior to this, he worked on the hardening and delivery of the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid services through a series of Service Challenges that led to a production quality grid service, acknowledged on the day of the announcement of the discovery of the Higgs boson by the CERN Director General. This was preceded by many years of R&D preparing for LHC computing, after a similar period preparing for and delivering production services to the former LEP collider.
